Dinny has a new gig on  Sunday April 15th at Cafe' 13 in Cambridge with Trevor Hodgson's Southern Comfort Group, from 4pm to 7 pm.  He has played with Trevor's group before and just recently on March 15th.

STOP PRESS!!!!! - PEOPLE'S CHICKEN RE-OPENED

Just heard (at 7.30pm Thursday March 22) that People's Chicken has resolved its problem with the landlord and has reopened. So Climax will be there Saturday March 24 4-7pm for our usual matinée. Sorry for all the worry and our special apologies to The Rose & Crown who graciously agreed to let us host a matinée on March 24. Nice people. Looking forward to seeing you all Saturday March 24. Thanks for all your support and understanding all these years.

PEOPLE'S CHICKEN CLOSED MARCH 18 2012

The People's Chicken was closed by Bailiff's order March 18 and is still closed today (21) at 4pm. We assume that's the end of People's Chicken so we suggest the regulars and others meet Saturday March 24, 4-7pm at The Rose & Crown, 2335 Yonge St. just north of Eglinton, to have a chat and check it out.

The Climax guys think it might be very good for Saturday matinées, with its dance floor, easy sightlines and reasonable prices. Some Climax Jazz Band members will be there so we may play a few tunes to impress the management. If you agree, we'll make a proposal The Rose & Crown can't refuse. Meanwhile we'll make sure that people turning up at People's Chicken on Saturday know where we are !

It is a sad day to learn about The People's Chicken (formerly The Chicken Deli for many years).  It ran as The Deli for so long and the band and fans were always happy.  The old place could have stood a little paint and puddy but the change it went through was not for the best.  The only benefit was the enlarging of the dance floor.  There were many old fans, of many years there that stayed away, because they did not like it.  We feel sorry for The Climax Jazz Band who played there for a long, long time.  It was home to them and their followers.  Well fans keep looking for a new place and help Chris keep things going.  There has been 2 shocks for him and the band in 1 year.

In the mean time keep on jazzin.

People's Chicken - Climax Jazz Band's home from home

You may recall that the Chick 'N' Deli closed 9th April 2011,  As you know it reopened 25th August 2011 as People's Chicken.  So I'm pleased and excited to tell you that The Climax Jazz Band are back playing live jazz too - Saturdays between 4 pm and 7 pm.

As well as serving chicken, burgers and steaks People's Chicken have a variety of musical events planned.  The refurbished restaurant at 744 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto has an extended dance floor, nine big screens as well as Wednesday Night Karaoke.

We, Dinny and myself are looking forward to seeing old friends, making new friends and enjoying the jazz.   So if you're at a loose end and in the neighbourhood show your support you never know we might just be there too.
