Thanks for supporting Jazz For The Cure

A very special thank you to everyone who participated and donated to Jazz For The Cure event on Friday August 24th.  

The donations were very generous.  We raised a grand total of $1,775.00 for Breast Cancer.

A very special thanks also to the bands, such as The Red Hot Ramble, The Ragweed and Dinny And The Allstars,they did a great job of entertaining our jazz fans and friends that came out to support us.

This is a charity gig featuring 3 Jazz Bands that Brian and I are putting together to raise money for Cancer. We have been challenged to do this by our friend Bob Wordham who sponsored our CD. 

He has raised $87,000.00 in the past for Run For The Cure. So we are trying to do our part. There is not anyone, within our group, who has not been touched by cancer through a family, friend and via our musicians.

A donation of $20.00 or more will give you a tax receipt..

Tim Horton's Southside Shuffle, Port Credit

Once again Dinny and the All Stars took part in the Street Shuffle at the Time Horton's Southside Shuffle outside Skinner Funeral home.

There was, as always lots of great artists to see and we would just like to say a big thank you to all the fans who came and supported the event. We love seeing you and we love playing for you.

Helpful Ladybugs

Just wanted to let you know. Ladybug Harbor, one of our favorite stores in Port Credit will have their website up and running soon. They have opened their doors for arts and crafts exhibitions and events several times and are very supportive of the local jazz scene.

Anyway, enough of me, here's their url www.ladybugharbor.com so you can bookmark it for later or better yet call in. They stock unique metalwork, wood carvings, clothing, lamps, artwork and craft work items. Gifts are available in all price ranges so your sure to find something for friends, the home or a special treat for yourself.

The South Side Shuffle

The South Side Shuffle is always a great event. Dinny's band is always asked to play on the street for the shuffle. It is a lot of fun as there are many other bands and the street is closed off for 4 hours while the bands play.

He looks forward to this every year and it really draws a lot of people to Port Credit. There is a lot of hard work put into this event by Chuck Jackson of The Downchilds Band and hundreds of volunteers. There are stages at the park and many big name performers such as The Downchilds Blues Band and Ronnie Hawkins. It runs from a Wednesday after Labour Day to the following Sunday. It truly is worth going to.

Private Gigs

In the summer and the fall we had 3 private gigs. One was a 47th anniversary, another a appriciation day at a yacht club and the other a 70th birthday. They were all fun events and really appreciated being asked to play for our friends and community. The event in Port Credit at the Yacht Club was Dinny's 3rd time and was asked back by special request. It felt good to think that the people enjoyed his music that much.

Port Credit Canada Day

A very special day in Port Credit as it was their 150th anniversary.

Dinny was asked to get his band together as they were in the parade on a float. It was a lot of fun for the boys. Dinny got a real kick out of it and felt very honoured to play for their first parade in Port Credit. I believe it will be happening again this year. It was a super parade and the floats and entertainment was supurb.

The Brogue Inn - Looking Good

Our good friends at The Brogue Inn, Port Credit have redesigned their website. It looks really good. Head on over and see for yourself.

Mardi Gras - Port Credit, Mississauga

Thanks to the Southside Shuffle 2009 staff and volunteers.

September brought The Southside Shuffle and as usual it was spectacular. Dinny's band did the opening greeting of the main ball. He followed through with the Street Shuffle and then to The Brogue. All of this is held every year in Port Credit. Many thanks to Chuck Jackson and all of the hard working volunteers and BIA staff, restaurants and pubs who supplied great entertainment.

Only one week to go. Can't wait, the festival is so much fun and there are so many talented musicians and a friendly atmosphere create a jazz event you shouldn't miss.

So come on down to Port Credit and join the New Orleans Parade.

The fun starts on the 8th and winds down on the 13th so there are lots of opportunities to come and dance the days away.
